Baby Friendly Hotel in Osaka – Ritz Carlton

Baby Friendly Hotel in Osaka

We were looking for a baby friendly hotel in Osaka because we were traveling with our 1 year old baby. We wanted a hotel with a bit of extra space and would be able to provide our baby with a crib. It can be hard to find a family friendly hotel in Japan and I did my research to make sure we could find a hotel everyone in the family would enjoy.

Ritz Carlton Osaka

Most travellers to Osaka like to stay in the lively Dotonbori area but for our family, that area is too packed with tourists. Our idea of a baby friendly hotel in Osaka would be something close to lots of shopping and restaurants but quieter. The Ritz Carlton Osaka is located in the Umeda district. It connects underground to Osaka Station so you can easily get to wherever you want. Plus, there is no shortage of shops and places to eat around.

We opted for the Superior Guest Room (King). Cash rates can vary at this property depending on the demand. We opted to use our Marriott Bonvoy points for our 3 night stay here.

Baby Amenities

A crib was provided for us upon request. There was also a diaper pail which was appreciated. The Ritz Carlton also provided child sized slippers and pajamas but our baby was too small to wear any of that.

We liked that there was a mini fridge and hot water kettle for us to use in the room. It was useful for us to make formula for our baby and keep the unused milk cold.

Originally the hotel placed the crib next to our bed but we moved it closer to the TV. We also were able to put our baby’s Slumberpod over the crib. If you don’t know, the Slumberpod (not sponsored!) is like a blackout tent that goes over a crib and helps the baby sleep better.

In the bathroom, there is a shower as well as a bathtub. We washed our baby in the bathtub as there is no baby bathtub available. You might want to bring a travel bathtub for your baby if you don’t want to wash them in the bathtub.

Dining with a baby

Although there were plenty of food options around the hotel, we ate a few meals at the hotel with our baby. Part of why we think the Ritz Carlton is such a baby friendly hotel in Osaka is that their restaurants were fully ready and happy to serve younger guests. They had a high chair ready for our baby when we arrived to eat at their restaurant, Splendido. They also had a sippy cup for our baby. We saw several other parents eating with their babies at the Ritz Carlton. Some babies were napping in strollers next to the table while their parents ate.

We also opted for room service so our baby could have a nap in her crib while we ate. We highly recommend the pasta bolognese at the Ritz Carlton Osaka. It tastes even better than what we’ve had in Italy!

The server who brought our room service was very kind and reminded us that there is a kids menu even for room service. We didn’t need to order anything off it but it was great service of her to let us know. She even tiptoed around when setting up our table because she realized our baby had fallen asleep in her crib.

Family Friendly Ritz Carlton Osaka

Overall we had a wonderful stay as a family at the Ritz Carlton Osaka. The room was big enough for our baby to crawl around and there was plenty of closet space for all the baby stuff.

The staff were all extremely kind to our baby, even when she made a little bit of a fuss. The restaurant and in-room dining option is a must for families who get tired and hungry. If you’re looking for a baby friendly hotel in Osaka, we do recommend the Ritz Carlton.
